Naya Battlemage card art
Naya Battlemage puts two activated abilities on the board — tapping creatures and granting trample — without spending a card slot on anything but the creature itself. The double kicker cost makes both abilities expensive, and a 2/2 for three mana that does nothing for free is a hard sell in most lists.

Format Analysis

Naya Battlemage is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but sees virtually no competitive play in any of them. In Commander, the activated abilities are too mana-intensive to be reliable interaction — tapping a creature at instant speed has uses, but not at the rate of paying three additional mana on top of the creature's cost. Legacy and Vintage have access to far more efficient answers, and Modern's tempo demands leave a do-nothing 2/2 with no enters-the-battlefield effect far behind the curve. Oathbreaker is the only format where the slower pace might make the tap ability occasionally relevant, but even there, better options exist.

Price Context

Current price

$0.20 bulk tier

At $0.20, Naya Battlemage is deep bulk — the price reflects demand, not scarcity. Nothing about its design suggests the price moves up, so there is no reason to buy in multiples.
