Nantuko Shaman
Creature — Insect Shaman
When this creature enters, if you control no tapped lands, draw a card.
Suspend 1— (Rather than cast this card from your hand, you may pay
and exile it with a time counter on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter. When the last is removed, you may cast it without paying its mana cost. It has haste.)

Nantuko Shaman draws a card the turn it enters — no setup, no hoops — and a 3/2 body for three mana is passable enough that you're not paying a real premium for the effect. It's a role-player, not a staple, but the floor is never zero when you replace yourself on arrival.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Nantuko Shaman is fringe: the card draw is real but one card on a three-mana creature is below the bar for most 100-card builds, where Coiling Oracle and Elvish Visionary do comparable work at lower cost. Pauper is where Nantuko Shaman has the most structural relevance — the commons pool is shallow enough that a guaranteed draw on a creature with a reasonable body earns consideration in green midrange shells. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters; the effect simply doesn't scale. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander in most respects, so the same lukewarm verdict applies.

Price Context
Current price
$0.05 bulk tier
At $0.05, Nantuko Shaman is pure bulk — you're not making a financial decision, you're making a deckbuilding one. That price is a ceiling as much as a floor; there's no demand pressure that would push it higher.
