Nacatl Outlander is a 2/2 for two mana with protection from blue or black depending on which lands you control — a reasonable body that blanks targeted removal in the right matchup. The problem is that protection from a color you have to earn via land types is too conditional to build around, and a vanilla 2/2 is the floor when those conditions aren't met.
