Mystic Skyfish is a flying beater that requires you to cast an instant or sorcery to untap it each turn — the payoff is real, but the engine tax is constant. Run it in spellslinger shells where you're casting instants and sorceries every turn anyway; everywhere else it's an overcosted 3/4 flier.
Format Analysis

| vintage | legal |

| oathbreaker | legal |
Mystic Skyfish finds its best home in Commander, specifically in spellslinger decks that already chain instants and sorceries each turn cycle — the untap clause is free value when you're doing that anyway. In Pauper it's legal and the flying body is meaningful at common, but the conditional untap makes it awkward in tempo and control lists that don't want a creature demanding spell support to attack safely. Modern, Pioneer, Legacy, and Vintage have enough efficient flying threats that Mystic Skyfish doesn't compete for slots. Oathbreaker mirrors the Commander read — spellslinger signatures make the untap clause trivially achievable, so it fits narrow but real archetypes there too.
