Myriad Construct is a Commander card through and through — the token-generation trigger is noisy and political in a multiplayer context, and the mana investment is far more acceptable when games go long. In competitive 1v1 formats like Modern or Legacy, a do-nothing-until-targeted X-drop at sorcery speed is simply too slow and too vulnerable; those formats have no patience for a seven-mana floor on a creature that hands opponents a decision point. Pioneer has the same problem. Stick to Commander, where the token army punishes spot removal and the X cost lets you scale threat density to your ramp.
