Mycoid Shepherd drains each opponent for 5 life every time a creature with power 5 or greater dies on your side — stackable, repeatable, and completely passive once it's on the board. The cost is a five-mana 4/4 with no protection, so it lives and dies by whether your table can answer it before your fatties start falling.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

Commander is the only format where Mycoid Shepherd earns consistent slots, and only in decks that habitually run and sacrifice large creatures — Ghalta, Primal Hunger stompy lists, Xenagos, God of Revels attack-and-die shells, or Prossh, Skyraider of Kher token lists that produce beefy tokens. In Legacy and Vintage it's outclassed on rate by anything else you'd be doing at five mana, and the life-drain trigger doesn't close games fast enough to matter in those formats. It's legal in Modern but sees no play there for the same reason.

Price Context
Current price
unknown tier
Pricing data for Mycoid Shepherd isn't currently available, but it's an older, lightly-played rare that rarely appears in competitive lists, so copies typically surface cheaply in bulk rare bins or on the secondary market for well under a dollar. If you want it, buy it casually — there's no meaningful demand driving the price up.
