Mutual Destruction trades a creature you control for a creature an opponent controls — instant speed, one mana, no targeting restrictions beyond 'creature.' It's a clean one-for-one that rewards decks already sacrificing creatures for value, turning a mandatory cost into a built-in bonus.

In Commander, Mutual Destruction earns a slot in any deck that wants to sacrifice creatures anyway — aristocrats, token engines, and graveyard loops treat the sacrifice not as a cost but as a trigger. One mana at instant speed competes favorably with most black removal, and hitting any creature regardless of protection or hexproof is a meaningful upside. In Pauper, where cheap interaction is currency, it's a reasonable option in sacrifice-matters shells, though unconditional removal at common is contested enough that it doesn't auto-include. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer the card is legal but rarely the right tool — formats that fast have better options, and the symmetrical creature requirement is a real constraint outside dedicated sacrifice strategies.

$0.15 bulk tier
At $0.15, Mutual Destruction is deep bulk — the kind of card you pick up as a throw-in without thinking twice. Bulk commons don't appreciate, but they don't need to; the value is entirely in what it does on board, not what it does in a binder.
