Mukotai Soulripper hits the board as a 5/4 menace for four mana and keeps growing by sacrificing artifacts to put +1/+1 counters on itself — the cost is feeding your own board, which is either irrelevant or the whole point. In artifact-sacrifice shells, especially Greasefang, Okiba Boss, that cost is pure upside.

Greasefang, Okiba Boss
Greasefang, Okiba Boss mills and reanimates Vehicles, and Mukotai Soulripper slots in as a self-feeding threat that converts spent or recurred artifacts into a closing body — when Greasefang's Vehicle loop is running, Soulripper is never short of fuel.

Mukotai Soulripper sees essentially zero play in competitive constructed — Modern and Pioneer have artifact-sacrifice payoffs that either go wider or go faster, and a four-mana 5/4 that requires feeding isn't threatening enough to compete there. Commander is where it actually lives: sacrifice-matters and artifact-heavy builds treat the running cost as a resource, not a drawback, and the menace makes it legitimately hard to answer in combat. Niche, but correct in the right shell.

Price Context
Current price
$0.22 bulk tier
At $0.22, Mukotai Soulripper is deep bulk — easy to pick up as a throw-in or from a bulk bin. Demand is narrow enough that there's no real floor to speak of, but at this price you're not risking anything by testing it.
