Mowu, Loyal Companion enters with trample, vigilance, and reach for three mana, then snowballs every time a +1/+1 counter lands on it — in the right shell, it becomes a closing threat inside two or three turns. Outside of dedicated counters decks, particularly those built around Sophia, Dogged Detective, it's a capable beater but nothing that demands a slot.

In Commander, Mowu, Loyal Companion is a role-player, not a staple — it belongs in +1/+1 counter decks where it compounds quickly, and nowhere else. In Modern and Pioneer, a three-mana 3/3 with keyword soup but no immediate board impact is too slow to compete with the threats those formats produce at the same cost. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters; the bar for three-mana creatures is absurdly high and Mowu doesn't clear it.
