Monster Mashup puts two 2/2 Zombie tokens onto the battlefield and replaces itself — three bodies' worth of board presence for three mana at instant speed. It's a solid role-player in any token or Zombie strategy that wants cheap, efficient flood.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Monster Mashup does real work, slotting cleanly into Zombie tribal decks that want to go wide and value instant speed for reactive token generation. In Pauper it competes in a tight format where every common has to pull weight, and the rate is passable in token or sacrifice shells. Legacy and Vintage are legal but Monster Mashup isn't touching those formats — the power ceiling is too high for a two-token sorcery-rate effect at three mana.

Price Context
Current price
$0.34 bulk tier
At $0.34, Monster Mashup is deep bulk — easy to pick up as a four-of without thinking about it. Bulk commons rarely move on price unless a deck archetype breaks out around them, so don't expect this to appreciate, but at this price it's a free inclusion test.
