Commander is where Mondo Gecko does its best work — go-wide token strategies, aristocrats, and combat-focused decks all want the effect, and the instant speed means it's live as a surprise during an opponent's attack step too. In 60-card formats like Modern and Pioneer, the effect is too situational to compete for a main-deck slot; combat tricks at three mana are slow, and Mondo Gecko doesn't affect the board on its own.
