Mitotic Manipulation

Look at the top seven cards of your library. You may put one of those cards onto the battlefield if it has the same name as a permanent. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in any order.

Mitotic Manipulation fetches any permanent that shares a type with something you already control — land, creature, artifact, whatever fits — straight onto the battlefield for three mana. The catch is it only searches for cards that match a permanent you already have in play, so the narrower your board, the narrower your options.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Mitotic Manipulation is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but it's essentially a Commander card — the singleton format is the only place its conditional tutoring pays off reliably. In Modern and Legacy, three mana to put one permanent onto the battlefield at sorcery speed is far too slow against formats with turn-three kill conditions, and the restriction to matching a permanent you control makes it unpredictably blank in early game states. Commander is where the card earns its slot: by mid-game you control enough permanent types that Mitotic Manipulation almost always finds exactly what you need, functioning as a budget tutor-to-battlefield in artifact-heavy or multitype builds.

Price Context
Current price
$0.42 bulk tier
At $0.42, Mitotic Manipulation sits firmly in bulk territory and is unlikely to climb without a reprint-driven scarcity event or a breakout Commander build pushing demand. For what it does — a conditional tutor-to-battlefield — the price is fair; you're not overpaying, but don't expect it to appreciate.
