Mirror-Sigil Sergeant wins games by itself if you untap with it — one token per upkeep becomes two, then four, and opponents have to answer it or die. The cost is that you need a blue source to trigger the copy effect, which makes it awkward outside blue-white shells.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is the correct home for Mirror-Sigil Sergeant — the longer the game, the more exponential the token math becomes, and 40-life tables give it the runway it needs. In Legacy and Vintage it's a five-mana vanilla 4/4 until your next upkeep, far too slow for formats where games end on turns two and three. Modern is theoretically legal but the same logic applies: a do-nothing-until-your-next-upkeep threat at five mana doesn't compete with that format's pace. Stick to Commander, specifically blue-white or four-color shells where you can reliably hit the blue-permanent trigger.

Price Context
Current price
$1.24 cheap tier
At $1.24, Mirror-Sigil Sergeant is firmly budget territory for the impact it can generate. The price reflects low competitive-format demand, not low power — in the right Commander deck it's a legitimate win condition, and there's no reason to expect it climbs without a reprint or a spike in Atraxa-style token builds.
