Commander is where Mirran Bardiche does real work, slotting into Equipment-heavy decks that already want to attach multiple pieces per turn cycle. In those shells, each equip trigger chains into another body, which can then carry the next piece — the value compounds fast. Competitive formats like Modern and Legacy have no interest: three mana to equip is unplayable at that speed, and the Rebel search is too slow to matter.
