Minion of the Mighty card art
Minion of the Mighty lets you cheat a Dragon directly into play off a one-mana 0/1 body — the payoff is enormous, the setup cost is almost nothing. In any deck where attacking with multiple Dragons on the same turn is realistic, this card earns its slot immediately.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Lathliss, Dragon Queen

Lathliss, Dragon Queen

41.4% of decks · synergy 0.40

Lathliss, Dragon Queen generates Dragon tokens whenever you cast a Dragon, which means Minion of the Mighty's attack trigger — cheating in a Dragon for free — immediately feeds back into Lathliss's own engine and creates a snowballing board.

02
Rivaz of the Claw

Rivaz of the Claw

38.7% of decks · synergy 0.38

Rivaz of the Claw makes Dragons uncounterable and recurs them from the graveyard, so the Dragon you slam into play with Minion of the Mighty is protected on arrival and recoverable if it dies — Rivaz turns the cheat into a repeatable resource.

03
Ganax, Astral HunterAcolyte of Bahamut

Ganax, Astral Hunter // Acolyte of Bahamut

24.6% of decks · synergy 0.24

Ganax, Astral Hunter // Acolyte of Bahamut generates Treasure when Dragons enter the battlefield, so every Dragon Minion of the Mighty cheats into play doubles as ramp — the combination turns a single attack step into both a threat and mana acceleration.

04
Atarka, World Render

Atarka, World Render

18.6% of decks · synergy 0.18

Atarka, World Render demands a Dragon-heavy attack to make double strike matter across the board, which is exactly the condition Minion of the Mighty rewards — attack with enough Dragons and you're getting a free threat alongside Atarka's double-damage swing.

05
Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm

Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm

14.7% of decks · synergy 0.13

Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm copies every nontoken Dragon that enters, so the Dragon Minion of the Mighty cheats into play immediately becomes two — the free entry point doubles as a trigger for Miirym's signature effect.

Minion of the Mighty is a Commander card through and through — the free-cheat effect only scales when your deck is built around attacking with multiple Dragons, which is a strategy that exists almost exclusively in the 100-card singleton format. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's legal but irrelevant: competitive Dragon lists in those formats want to cast their Dragons efficiently, not jump through the hoop of assembling a multicard attack condition for a single free entry. Vintage is the same story — the format's broken enough that a conditional one-shot cheat effect doesn't register. Commander is where Minion of the Mighty lives, and specifically in Dragon tribal builds where the attack condition is met naturally and repeatedly.

Price Context

Current price

$0.91 bulk tier

At $0.91, Minion of the Mighty sits firmly in bulk territory despite being a genuine roleplayer in Dragon tribal Commander decks. It's an easy include at that price — no Dragon deck running red should hesitate over the cost.
