Mindwrack Liege card art
Mindwrack Liege pumps every blue and black creature you control by +1/+1 and lets you cheat blue or black creatures directly onto the battlefield — both effects on a single six-mana body. Six mana is a real ask, but the free-cast trigger means every subsequent blue or black spell threatens to deploy a creature from hand for nothing.

Commander is where Mindwrack Liege lives — Dimir and five-color creature decks can stack its anthem effect across a wide board while using the free-cast trigger to outpace opponents on tempo. In Legacy and Vintage, six mana is a non-starter against the format's interaction density, and the effect simply doesn't match what a turn-six play needs to accomplish in those environments. Modern has moved too fast and too efficient for a six-drop with no immediate protection to matter. Oathbreaker is technically legal, but the sixty-card, lower-life-total format doesn't change the fundamental math — Mindwrack Liege belongs in Commander.

Price data for Mindwrack Liege isn't currently available in our index, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for a live number. It's an older card with a narrow home, so copies tend to be cheap when they surface — worth picking up if you're building Dimir creatures and see it under a dollar.
