Mindsparker

In Commander, Mindsparker is a niche hate piece aimed squarely at blue-white control and spellslinger decks — the triggered damage accumulates fast when an Azorius player starts chaining counterspells and wraths, but three mana for a 3/2 in a 40-life format means it needs to fire multiple times to matter. In aggressive red decks, especially those piloted by burn- or tax-adjacent commanders, it pulls double duty as a threat and a deterrent. In Modern and Pioneer, the three-mana slot is brutally competitive and Mindsparker never made the cut — faster, more reliable hate exists. Legacy and Vintage aren't realistic homes either; the effect doesn't line up with how those formats end games. Standard is its most playable constructed context historically, where the color distribution of the meta can make the trigger fire every turn cycle.
