Mind Swords makes each opponent exile two cards from their hand — no targeting, no saves, just symmetric pressure on every player at the table for two mana. At that cost and that scope, it's one of the most efficient hand-disruption spells available to black in Commander.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

Commander is where Mind Swords earns its slot: hitting three or four opponents at once turns a two-mana spell into six to eight cards stripped from the table, a rate no other format can replicate. In Legacy and Vintage, it competes directly against Hymn to Tourach and Thoughtseize, which offer selection and single-target precision that Mind Swords trades away — it rarely makes those cuts. Pauper gives it more room, since the card pool is shallower and the lack of targeting is less punishing when opponents have fewer silver bullets to protect.

Price Context
Current price
$0.20 bulk tier
At $0.20, Mind Swords is deep bulk — pickup cost is essentially zero if you're trading or buying a cheap filler order. That price is stable; there's no spike catalyst in sight for a common with narrow competitive appeal.
