Mind Ravel trades two cards from an opponent's hand for two cards in yours — a clean two-for-zero on selection at the cost of three mana at sorcery speed. It's a serviceable draw spell in formats that reward hand disruption, but the sorcery timing and the reliance on opponents having cards to discard keep it out of competitive consideration.

In Commander, Mind Ravel fills a niche in discard-matters builds — specifically any deck that needs to stock an opponent's graveyard or trigger hellbent and rack effects — but three mana at sorcery speed is a steep ask when Phyrexian Arena and Rhystic Study exist at the same or lower price point. Pauper is where Mind Ravel has the most legitimate claim: the common card pool is shallow enough that targeted discard with card replacement is a real resource-denial tool, particularly in black control shells. Legacy and Vintage both have access to far more efficient disruption and draw, so Mind Ravel sees essentially no play there.

Price Context
Current price
$0.14 bulk tier
At $0.14, Mind Ravel is deep bulk — the kind of card that ends up in a trade binder long before it ends up in a deck. There's no meaningful demand driver that would push it off the bulk floor.
