Midnight Recovery returns any creature from your graveyard to your hand at instant speed for three mana — solid recursion range, castable on an opponent's end step. It's a serviceable role-player in black, never a priority include, but it does exactly what it says without conditions.
Format Analysis

Midnight Recovery is a bulk common, and that's the ceiling outside of Pauper, where recursion at this price point is genuinely competitive for value-grinding black strategies. In Commander, three mana at instant speed to recur any creature is fine, but black has access to Reanimate, Animate Dead, and Persist-style effects that do more for less — Midnight Recovery rarely makes the final 99. Modern, Legacy, and Vintage have no interest in a three-mana non-tutor recur-to-hand effect when the formats move faster. Pauper is where it's most at home, slotting into midrange and control shells that want to grind incremental card advantage.
