Commander is where Meticulous Artisan actually lives — a 100-card singleton format with generous five-mana budgets, dedicated flicker commanders, and graveyards full of powerful instants and sorceries waiting to be replayed. In competitive 60-card formats like Modern and Pioneer, a five-mana 2/4 with a graveyard-dependent trigger is too slow and fragile to see meaningful play. Legacy and Vintage have the raw power density where graveyard recursion matters, but far more efficient options exist at lower mana costs. Pauper is where things get interesting: Meticulous Artisan is legal, and common-legal flicker effects are plentiful enough that a budget blink shell could abuse the trigger at a lower power ceiling than Commander.
