Metamorphose puts a permanent on top of its owner's library and replaces itself with a new one — effectively a tempo reset that doubles as card selection. The catch is symmetry: your opponent gets to cash in the bounce too, so Metamorphose earns its slot only in decks that exploit the replacement trigger better than their opponents can.

In Commander, Metamorphose finds a home in storm and artifact combo shells that want cheap cantrip-adjacent spells to chain through the deck — Jhoira of the Ghitu and Hullbreacher-style lists have run it for this reason. Legacy is the other viable home, where it sees fringe play in combo decks that can engineer the bounce to hit their own value creature and rebuy an enters-the-battlefield effect. Vintage permits it but offers too many strictly superior cantrips for Metamorphose to compete. Outside those three formats it's not legal, which keeps its demand narrow.

Price Context
Current price
$1.01 cheap tier
At $1.01, Metamorphose sits in the bulk-rare tier — cheap enough to pick up without thinking. Demand is too niche for the price to climb meaningfully, but it's also unlikely to crater further given its narrow but loyal combo audience.
