Mercadian Atlas draws you a card at your end step whenever you didn't play a land that turn — passive, cumulative, and surprisingly hard to turn off in a deck that floods mana from non-land sources. The five-mana entry cost is real, but in the right shell it pays back that investment within two or three turns.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Mercadian Atlas lives almost entirely in Commander, where the slower pace and high mana counts mean you'll reliably trigger it multiple times before the game ends. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but functionally irrelevant — those formats close before a five-mana do-nothing artifact earns its slot. Oathbreaker can support it in the same way Commander does, provided the deck leans on mana rocks or creature-based ramp over land drops.

Price Context
Current price
$0.62 bulk tier
At $0.62, Mercadian Atlas sits firmly in bulk territory — a product of low demand rather than low power. The price is stable and unlikely to move unless a high-profile Commander list picks it up and drives a spike.
