Memory Leak card art
Memory Leak makes an opponent discard a card and surveil 2 — three words of effect for two mana at instant speed. Solid rate for a disruptive spell, but discard one-for-ones rarely make the cut in Commander, where the same card goes three more times around the table.

Memory Leak is most at home in Pauper, where instant-speed discard plus surveil 2 outpaces the format's typical two-mana options and the common card pool keeps the competition modest. In Legacy and Vintage, it's outclassed immediately — Thoughtseize and Force of Will exist. Modern and Pioneer have enough efficient discard that Memory Leak sits comfortably on the bench. Commander is the toughest sell: one opponent losing one card is close to a blank in a four-player game, and the surveil 2 doesn't compensate for the tempo lost.

Price Context

Current price

$0.09 bulk tier

At $0.09, Memory Leak is deep bulk — the kind of card that costs more to ship than to buy. That price is stable by default; there's no demand pressure to move it in either direction.
