Mega Flare deals damage to all creatures and players equal to the number of creatures you control — a board wipe and a finisher stapled together. The cost is steep enough that you need a engine behind it, but in the right shell it closes games outright.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Mega Flare lives — token strategies and go-wide decks can cash it in as a one-card 'deal 20 to the table' while simultaneously clearing blockers. Legacy and Vintage both allow it, but neither format slows down enough to support the setup it demands, so it sees essentially no play there. Oathbreaker is a reasonable home given the compressed game length and higher spell density, where a single burst of creatures can make Mega Flare lethal ahead of schedule.

Price Context
Current price
$1.50 cheap tier
At $1.50, Mega Flare sits at the low end of niche finishers — cheap enough to slot in on spec, not so cheap that it's disposable bulk. The price reflects its narrow window: powerful in the right deck, a dead card in the wrong one, so it's unlikely to spike unless a breakout Commander build pushes it into the spotlight.
