Mechanozoa is a five-mana 3/3 that clones itself every time it's tapped, generating an unbounded board presence if you can keep triggering it — the ceiling is real. The floor is a vanilla 3/3 for five, which is unplayable, so the card lives and dies by how reliably your deck can tap it.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is the only home where Mechanozoa makes sense — multiplayer games go long enough that a self-replicating threat can snowball before the table answers it, and token synergies like Anointed Procession and Parallel Lives compound the effect fast. In every 60-card format, five mana for a 3/3 with a tap-dependent payoff is too slow and too fragile against interaction; Legacy, Vintage, and Modern have no interest in it, and even Pioneer and Standard offer far more reliable payoffs at this cost. Pauper is the only other format where bulk creatures sometimes find niches, but Mechanozoa's common legal status doesn't overcome the raw rate problem — the tap trigger is too hard to abuse without a dedicated support package.

Price Context
Current price
$0.11 bulk tier
At $0.11, Mechanozoa is deep bulk — the kind of card you pull from a draft chaff box, not a singles order. It's unlikely to climb unless a Commander precon or breakout deck builds around tap-token loops and puts it in the spotlight.
