Maze of Shadows is a land that taps for colorless mana and can become unblockable for a creature — at the cost of tapping itself and paying two generic, making that effect too slow and too expensive to matter in most games. It's a trap: the unblockability is appealing on paper but practically irrelevant when evasion-granting equipment and auras do the same job passively and immediately.

Maze of Shadows is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but sees essentially no play in any of them. In Commander, the format where colorless utility lands have the most room to breathe, Maze of Shadows competes against lands that generate value without a mana investment — and spending two mana to make one creature unblockable for a turn is a losing transaction at any table. Legacy and Vintage demand land slots to do something powerful and immediate; a conditional, slow evasion tool has no place there. Oathbreaker follows the same logic as Commander at a smaller scale — if your gameplan is connecting with one creature, you have better options.
