In Commander, Martyr's Soul earns its slot in any white deck that attacks in numbers — convoke decks, token builds, and weenie strategies all routinely have two or more tapped permanents post-combat, which means this is often a one-mana 4/3 lifelink when it matters most. In Pauper, it's a legitimate role-player in white weenie and convoke shells, where the counter condition is trivially met and the stat line outperforms most commons at three mana.
