Marshmist Titan is a 4/5 for as little than two mana in a deck that runs enough black permanents — that's a genuinely threatening body at a steep discount. The catch is that black-heavy devotion requirements are real, and outside dedicated mono-black shells it rarely costs less than five or six, at which point cheaper threats exist.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Marshmist Titan is a Commander card first — the format's longer games give you time to build the black-permanent density that makes the discount meaningful, and a 4/5 for two mana is legitimately threatening in a 40-life format. In Pauper it's legal and theoretically interesting in mono-black devotion shells, but the format's creature-for-cost bar is brutal and a conditional giant rarely beats consistently cheap threats. Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy are non-starters: those formats punish slow setup, and a situationally cheap vanilla 4/5 with no enters-the-battlefield effect competes against threats that simply do more.

Current price
$0.06 bulk tier
At $0.06, Marshmist Titan is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard and shipping, not the card. Bulk rares with narrow applications rarely climb without a breakout Commander printing or sudden format relevance, neither of which is likely here.
