Marath, Will of the Wild card art
Marath, Will of the Wild enters with counters equal to mana spent and redistributes them as removal, token generation, or a pump effect — all repeatable as long as you keep adding counters back. The cost is that it demands a dedicated support shell, and without Cryptic Trilobite or similar counter-doubling pieces, the engine stalls the moment Marath runs dry.

Commander is the only format where Marath, Will of the Wild is worth building around — the command zone means you can reliably access it every game, and the Naya color identity opens up the full suite of counter doublers, token payoffs, and infinite mana lines that make the engine tick. Legacy and Vintage allow it legally but offer nothing to motivate slotting a five-color-identity legendary creature into a non-Commander context. Oathbreaker is legal but the 60-card singleton constraint and planeswalker pairing make it an awkward fit for a card that thrives on repetition and board presence.
