Manriki-Gusari enters the battlefield and immediately shuts down every Equipment on the opposing side — a passive lockout effect stapled to a two-mana artifact that equips for one. The catch is narrow relevance: outside metas where Equipment-based commanders are common, it's a blank.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

In Commander, Manriki-Gusari is a meta-call card — run it when Voltron commanders like Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh or Nazahn are regular fixtures at your table, and cut it when they're not. In Legacy and Vintage, the card sees essentially no play; those formats have faster, more decisive ways to answer artifacts, and the Equipment hate is too narrow against what actually shows up. Modern is technically legal but similarly uninterested — Equipment decks there are rare enough that Manriki-Gusari never makes the cut. Its home is Commander, full stop, and even there it earns a slot only in metas where the effect is live most games.

Price Context
Current price
$0.38 bulk tier
At $0.38, Manriki-Gusari is deep bulk — easy to pick up as a meta-tech inclusion without any financial hesitation. Demand is too narrow for the price to move meaningfully in either direction, so don't expect it to appreciate, but losing nothing if the meta shifts is a reasonable consolation.
