Mana Seism converts every land on the battlefield into a red mana — potentially 10 or more mana in a single shot at typical Commander tables. The cost is real: you're sacrificing your own lands too, so it only makes sense when you're spending that mana immediately or have a way to recover.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is the only format where Mana Seism reaches its ceiling — with four players all developing land bases, the board routinely holds 20–40 lands, turning this into a ritual that dwarfs anything else at its mana cost. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but essentially unplayable; those formats have actual fast mana, and sacrificing lands for situational burst is far too slow and resource-negative against decks running Force of Will and zero-mana acceleration. Modern is the same story — the format's land counts are too low and the turn clock too tight for Mana Seism to generate meaningful value. Oathbreaker is legal and can occasionally exploit it in big-mana red builds, though the smaller starting life totals and faster games shrink the window considerably.

Price Context
Current price
$0.19 bulk tier
At $0.19, Mana Seism is deep bulk — a throw-in at any store or a penny-bin find at any event. It's a narrow card with a real ceiling in the right Commander builds, so the price reflects low demand rather than low power.
