Malevolent Noble card art
Malevolent Noble is a 3/2 for two mana that can sacrifice a creature to pump itself by +2/+2 until end of turn — a reasonable body with a built-in sacrifice outlet that doubles as a finisher in the right shell. The catch is that the outlet costs two mana each activation, which is steep enough to matter.

In Commander, Malevolent Noble earns its slot exclusively in dedicated sacrifice decks — outside that context, a 3/2 for two that costs additional mana to activate isn't pulling weight in a 40-life format. In Pauper, commons-only deckbuilding elevates it: sacrifice outlets are scarce at common, and Malevolent Noble competes with Carrion Feeder and Viscera Seer for that role, losing on activation cost but winning by being a meaningful attacker. Modern and Legacy have far more efficient sacrifice infrastructure, so Malevolent Noble doesn't see serious play in either format — it's simply outclassed by Viscera Seer and Altar's Reap-type effects. Pioneer is similar: the card is legal but the format moves too fast for a mana-hungry outlet to matter.

Price Context

Current price

$0.05 bulk tier

At $0.05, Malevolent Noble is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard and shipping, not the card itself. There's no realistic price pressure that moves a common sacrifice outlet with this activation cost, so bulk is where it stays.
