Lys Alana Scarblade is a repeatable, no-mana-cost removal engine in any deck that floods the board with Elves — tap it, discard an Elf, and any creature dies unconditionally. The cost is real: you need a stocked hand and a critical mass of Elves in play to fire it consistently, so it earns its slot only in dedicated tribal builds.

In Commander, Lys Alana Scarblade is a niche but legitimate include in mono-green or Golgari Elf tribal decks — unconditional targeted removal stapled to a creature is genuinely hard to find in green, and the discard cost becomes negligible once the engine is running. Legacy and Vintage have access to it but would never touch it; those formats solve removal with far more efficient options and have no interest in the tribal setup cost. Modern technically allows it, but the same logic applies — no competitive Modern Elf build wants a three-mana 1/1 that requires hand and board resources to remove a single creature. Lys Alana Scarblade is a Commander card through and through, and even there it belongs in exactly one archetype.

Price Context
Current price
$0.18 bulk tier
At $0.18, Lys Alana Scarblade is deep bulk — there is no financial argument for or against picking it up. Its narrow home in Elf tribal Commander keeps demand low enough that the price is unlikely to climb unless a pushed new Elf commander drives a sudden spike in the archetype's popularity.
