Loch Dragon

In Commander, Loch Dragon fits cleanly into any Izzet or four-color shell that wants evasive threats and incremental card advantage — the ward 2 makes opponents think twice before spending removal, and a single hit replaces the card entirely. In Modern and Legacy, a 4/4 flyer for four mana competes against a much higher baseline; Loch Dragon's ward and looting trigger aren't enough to carve out a dedicated slot when faster threats dominate. Pioneer is the most plausible non-Commander home, where the card pool is slower and a resilient flying threat with upside has more room to breathe. Across formats, this is a Commander card first — the 99-card singleton environment rewards the combination of evasion, built-in protection, and value in one body far more than any 60-card format does.
