Livio, Oathsworn Sentinel protects your entire board from targeted removal for just two mana per activation, then blinks everything back at end of turn to retrigger every enter-the-battlefield ability you control. The catch is he needs a partner to fill the command zone, but pair him with something like Village Bell-Ringer and you have an infinite loop engine sitting right in your command zone.

Livio, Oathsworn Sentinel is exclusively a Commander card in practice — the Partner mechanic exists specifically for the command zone, and the two-mana activation cost is too slow and too narrow for Legacy or Vintage, where neither format has any reason to run a 2/3 that babysits creatures. In Commander he earns his slot as a partner who provides proactive board protection and an ETB loop engine in the same body, which means even decks that aren't built around combos get real utility from him. Oathbreaker is the one alternative format where he's legal and could plausibly appear, though the smaller game size and faster pace make him less impactful than he is at a full Commander table.
