Living Wish fetches any creature or land from outside the game — meaning your sideboard in sanctioned play, or any card you own at a casual table — for two mana at sorcery speed. That flexibility is the point: it's a tutor whose target slot is as wide as your collection.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |

In Commander, Living Wish occupies a niche: most playgroups allow the 'outside the game' clause to pull from a personal 'wish board' of up to 10–15 cards, which turns it into a silver-bullet tutor for whatever creature or land the moment demands. Legacy is where Living Wish has historically done real work, finding combo pieces or utility lands from a sideboard in decks that can't afford to maindeck every answer. It's legal in Vintage as well, though the format's raw power density makes a two-mana sorcery tutor with a restricted target pool a fringe inclusion at best. Modern, Pioneer, Standard, and Pauper have no access to it, so outside of Legacy and Commander its competitive footprint is essentially zero.

Price Context
Current price
$1.65 cheap tier
At $1.65, Living Wish sits at a price that reflects casual demand rather than competitive staple status. It's cheap enough to pick up without deliberation, and the low price is unlikely to move significantly unless a Commander-legal wish-board ruling or Legacy breakout changes the calculus.
