Liliana's Elite enters as a potentially massive beater — its power and toughness scale with every creature in your graveyard, which in a dedicated graveyard deck can hit double digits by the mid-game. The catch is that it does nothing on its own: no evasion, no ETB, no built-in protection, so it needs a graveyard already stocked to justify the slot. Run it in Liliana, Heretical Healer builds where the yard fills itself; elsewhere, pass.

Liliana, Heretical Healer
Liliana, Heretical Healer decks are built around a continuously filling graveyard — self-mill, sacrifice loops, and recursive threats — which is exactly the engine that makes Liliana's Elite a legitimate finisher rather than a blank 1/1.

In Commander, Liliana's Elite belongs strictly in dedicated graveyard decks where the yard fills fast enough to make it an outsized threat by turn four or five; in fair creature builds it's unplayable. In Pauper it's a legal common, but aggressive and midrange decks have little incentive to invest in a creature that requires significant setup when cheaper, more reliable threats exist. Modern and Pioneer have access to far more efficient payoffs for graveyard density, and Liliana's Elite's lack of evasion or resilience makes it uncompetitive at those power levels. Legacy and Vintage aren't environments where a vanilla-ish ground creature with no immediate impact survives the cut.

Price Context
Current price
$0.25 bulk tier
At $0.25, Liliana's Elite sits firmly in bulk territory, and that price reflects its narrow application accurately. It won't appreciate — supply is high and demand is limited to a specific graveyard niche — so buy the copies you need without hesitation and don't expect the price to move.
