Lightning Berserker is a mana sink that converts spare red mana into direct damage — pump it for R each activation, and Dash means you can threaten the ability the turn it enters without committing it permanently to the board. The catch is that it demands a lot of mana to matter, which makes it a role-player in dedicated shells rather than a standalone threat.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Lightning Berserker is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but it barely registers in any of them outside of Commander. In Commander, it earns a niche in Krenko, Mob Boss or similar go-wide red decks as a late-game mana outlet that can close games when you're sitting on a mountain of tokens and need a damage vector that doesn't require combat. In Modern and Pioneer it's too slow and too mana-hungry to compete with the format's actual threats. Legacy and Vintage have no interest in a 1/1 with a pump ability.

Price Context
Current price
$0.17 bulk tier
At $0.17, Lightning Berserker is deep bulk — you're not paying for scarcity, you're paying for cardboard. It holds no meaningful financial value, but it costs nothing to slot in when the synergy is right.
