Lightning Angel

In Commander, Lightning Angel is a solid role-player in Jeskai or any Mardu-adjacent build that wants air coverage without sacrificing defensive presence — vigilance and haste together mean it never telegraphs a vulnerability. In Legacy and Vintage it's largely outclassed by faster threats and more broken things happening on turns one through three, so it sees virtually no play in those formats. Modern is the most interesting competitive case: Lightning Angel has appeared in midrange and tempo shells that want a clock that also holds the ground, though it competes hard with cheaper or more synergistic four-drops in the current card pool. Oathbreaker gives it a friendlier home if your signature spell is in Jeskai colors and you need a threat that doubles as a blocker from the moment it resolves.
