Lifelace changes one permanent's color to green for a single green mana — that's the entire effect, and it resolves at instant speed. The only shells that want this are narrow combo decks like Patron of the Orochi, where forcing a permanent to be green matters mechanically; everywhere else, this is a blank card.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Lifelace is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, and unplayable in all of them outside of highly specific combo constructions. In Commander, the only realistic home is a deck that needs a permanent to carry the green subtype for a triggered or activated ability — that's a vanishingly small set of scenarios. Legacy and Vintage have access to it but have no interest; the effect is too narrow to compete for a slot in any coherent strategy. Oathbreaker matches Commander's logic: technically legal, functionally irrelevant unless the combo exists.

Current price
$0.40 bulk tier
At $0.40, Lifelace sits firmly in bulk territory, and that price is already generous for what it does. Don't expect movement — this is a card that gets bought once for a specific combo and otherwise lives in the dollar bin indefinitely.
