Lifecrafter's Gift

Lifecrafter's Gift is a Commander card through and through — the replacement effect pays off over the length of a multiplayer game where you're dropping creature after creature, and the initial board-wide counter drop can swing a stalled board state decisively. In competitive 1v1 formats like Modern or Legacy it doesn't make the cut: four mana for a non-permanent that requires a creature-heavy board is too slow and too conditional when faster threats exist. Pauper is where it could theoretically show up in a dedicated +1/+1 counter shell, but the format's best counter synergies are aggressive enough that a four-mana enchantment at sorcery speed is still a stretch. Stick to Commander — specifically, any deck where the replacement effect will trigger at least three or four more times after it resolves.
