Lethargy Trap card art
Lethargy Trap makes all attacking creatures lose flying until end of turn — and if three or more creatures attacked this turn, it costs one blue mana instead of four. Situationally free combat disruption is real value, but the condition means it does nothing when you need it most: against decks that attack carefully with one or two threats.

In Commander, Lethargy Trap earns its slot in decks that consistently face wide combat swings — token strategies and go-wide attackers trigger the discount almost every game, and stripping flying from an entire attack step can redirect lethal damage. Outside Commander, the card struggles: Legacy, Vintage, and Modern combat is rarely wide enough on the turn you need interaction, and four mana at full cost is unplayable in those formats. Pauper is the one non-Commander format where Lethargy Trap has a theoretical niche, since token strategies and swarm aggro appear frequently, but even there it's too conditional to compete with fog effects.

Price Context

Current price

$0.08 bulk tier

At $0.08, Lethargy Trap is deep bulk — the kind of card you pick up as an afterthought in a trade binder. Don't expect that price to move; the card sees minimal competitive play and supply is abundant.
