Lethal Throwdown trades a card for a guaranteed kill on any creature or planeswalker at instant speed, with the amass upside stapled on for free. The cost is real — it's still one-for-one removal — but the unconditional targeting at sorcery-speed-or-less alternatives' price point makes it worth slotting.
Format Analysis

In Commander, Lethal Throwdown earns a slot in any black deck that wants clean, unconditional removal without paying three or more mana — the amass rider slowly builds a token army as a bonus. In Legacy and Vintage, one-mana unconditional removal is worth a look in creature-heavy shells, though Snuff Out and Fatal Push compete hard at that slot. Modern is the toughest sell: Fatal Push's revolt mode handles most threats for the same mana, and the amass token rarely scales to the board states you're fighting through. Overall, Commander is where Lethal Throwdown does its best work — the format's singleton structure means you want redundancy on unconditional removal, and a free Zombie token every time you cast it adds up over a long game.

Price Context
Current price
$0.18 bulk tier
At $0.18, Lethal Throwdown sits firmly in bulk territory — easy to pick up as a throw-in or grab a playset without thinking twice. Bulk unconditional removal rarely spikes unless it finds a competitive home, so don't expect this to move much.
