Lens of Clarity lets you see the top card of your library and any face-down permanents in play — both at once, for one mana to cast and zero to keep. It's a niche effect, and outside of decks that care about morph, manifest, or topdeck manipulation, it doesn't pull enough weight to justify the slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Lens of Clarity is legal everywhere except Standard, but it barely registers in any format. In Commander, it finds a home in morph and manifest decks — Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer being the most obvious shell — where knowing which face-down permanent is yours and what's sitting on top of your library has real decision value. In Pauper it's technically playable but has no meaningful home. Legacy, Vintage, and Modern have faster, denser card-selection options that make Lens of Clarity invisible in those formats.
