Lathnu Hellion lands as a 4/4 haste for three mana — one of the best stats-per-cost ratios in red — but it eats two energy every upkeep or sacrifices itself. Without a reliable energy engine behind it, Lathnu Hellion is a two-turn clock that fizzles, not a threat that closes games.

In Commander, Lathnu Hellion is fringe at best — the energy upkeep cost demands a dedicated energy synergy package, and most red aggro commanders have better standalone threats available. In Modern and Pioneer, it saw brief play in energy-based aggressive shells where Aether Hub and Attune with Aether kept the meter topped off, but those enablers are either banned or outclassed by newer cards. Legacy and Vintage have zero interest in a three-mana 4/4 with an upkeep tax when the format offers broken alternatives. Lathnu Hellion is essentially a build-around piece — playable only in lists that generate energy as a core mechanic, and marginal even there.

Pricing data isn't available for Lathnu Hellion at the moment — check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for current buylist and retail figures. Given its narrow energy dependency and the absence of a competitive shell that wants it right now, expect bulk-rare territory.
