Last One Standing is a two-mana board wipe — full stop, the cheapest unconditional wipe in black or red. The randomness of which creature survives is a real cost, but at this mana value, you're not asking for perfection; you're asking for a reset, and it delivers.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Mogis, God of Slaughter
Mogis, God of Slaughter wants the board small and painful — Last One Standing clears the table for two mana and leaves exactly one creature standing, which means opponents are immediately back to eating Mogis triggers with nothing to hide behind.

Xantcha, Sleeper Agent
Xantcha, Sleeper Agent thrives when opponents are resource-starved and exposed; Last One Standing strips the board at instant speed for two mana, letting Xantcha's political damage and card-draw engine run against players who can't block.

Blim, Comedic Genius
Blim, Comedic Genius offloads junk permanents and wants opponents miserable — Last One Standing fits by wiping out blockers for almost no mana investment, keeping the path clear for Blim to connect and spread the suffering.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Last One Standing earns its slot — multiplayer boards bloat fast, and a two-mana wipe that survives the singleton restriction is a structural bargain. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but sees almost no play, because those formats punish the randomness hard: leaving your opponent's best threat alive at parity can just lose the game on the spot. Oathbreaker shares enough of Commander's multiplayer math that the card pulls similar weight there. Anywhere else, it simply isn't legal.

Price Context
Current price
$2.61 cheap tier
At $2.61, Last One Standing sits squarely in the budget-staple tier — cheap enough that there's no reason to proxy it or chase a cheaper version. Demand is steady across Rakdos and Mardu Commander builds, so the price is unlikely to crater, but it's also not a card you need to pick up urgently before a spike.
