Lagonna-Band Elder is a three-mana 2/4 that gains you life equal to the highest converted mana cost among permanents you control when it enters — a one-time lifegain trigger that scales with your biggest permanent on board. The cost is real: this is a do-nothing body that needs a high-CMC permanent already in play to justify its slot, and even then the lifegain rarely justifies a card.

Lagonna-Band Elder is a fringe card everywhere it's legal. In Commander, lifegain decks under commanders like Oloro, Ageless Ascetic or Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn can squeeze incremental value from the ETB trigger, but the body is undersized and the effect non-repeatable, so it rarely makes the cut over engines that generate ongoing lifegain. In Pauper, the common slot is fiercely contested and a conditional one-shot lifegain trigger on a 2/4 doesn't move the needle in any established archetype. Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer have no meaningful home for it — the effect is too small and the rate too slow for competitive 60-card formats.

Price Context
Current price
$0.02 bulk tier
At $0.02, Lagonna-Band Elder is deep bulk — the kind of card that fills a commons box and costs nothing to try. Don't expect that price to move; there's no competitive demand or scarcity pushing it anywhere.
