Kurgadon enters as a 3/3 for five mana and grows into a legitimate threat — it gets a +1/+1 counter whenever another creature with power 3 or greater enters the battlefield under your control. The payoff is real in the right shell, but five mana for a 3/3 with a conditional upside means Kurgadon needs a deck built around it to pull its weight.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| pioneer | not legal |

| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Kurgadon is a Commander card through and through — the singleton format and longer games give it the time and redundancy it needs to snowball. In a green stompy or +1/+1 counter deck that's constantly deploying large creatures, Kurgadon can reach imposing sizes without any additional investment beyond your normal game plan. Legacy and Vintage are legal formats, but Kurgadon has no competitive presence there; five mana for a grow-slow threat doesn't compete in those environments. Oathbreaker is the one non-Commander format where it could theoretically show up in a big-creature shell, but the card pool and pace make it a fringe inclusion at best.

Price Context
Current price
$0.09 bulk tier
At $0.09, Kurgadon is deep bulk — you'll find it in commons boxes or thrown into trade binders as filler. That price is stable simply because demand is low, not because supply is tight, so don't expect movement in either direction.
