Knight Rampager is a 5/5 trampler for three mana — rate that would be absurd if the downside didn't exist. The catch is that it must attack each combat if able and your opponents choose which player or planeswalker it attacks, which hands your opponents enough control over it to make Knight Rampager a liability in most competitive contexts.

In Commander, Knight Rampager is a trap — a 5/5 trample for three looks like a bargain until three opponents start routing it into their best blocker or a planeswalker they were going to sacrifice anyway. Legacy and Vintage have access to it, but neither format rewards a three-mana vanilla-ish beatstick with a self-defeating drawback when faster, cleaner threats exist. Knight Rampager's most coherent home is an aggro deck that can close the game before opponents learn to weaponize the attack-direction clause, but even there, better options exist at the same cost.
